LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly disclosed his retirement plan, aiming to sustain his rivalry with Lionel Messi until the 2026 World Cup.
The five-time Ballon d’Or awardee, at 38, acknowledges the eventual end of his illustrious career.
However, there are no immediate retirement plans in sight. Ronaldo has communicated his desire to Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, expressing interest in extending his contract until 2027.
This move would potentially grant him the opportunity to represent Portugal in the next World Cup, hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Despite previous hints of retiring from international football after the upcoming European Championship, Ronaldo now eyes participation in another global tournament.
Prolonging his career until the age of 41 will ensure that Ronaldo remains in contention with his perpetual rival, Messi.
As Messi celebrated his World Cup triumph in 2022, Ronaldo aims for another chance at clinching the prestigious title. Sources indicate his aspiration to continue playing until “early 2027“, spanning across three additional seasons.
