LAGOS, NIGERIA (VOICE OF NAIJA) –Samuel Chukwueze’s much-anticipated transfer to AC Milan has been far from ideal as the Super Eagles winger struggles to secure a place in the club’s first team this season.Ā
Since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations, the 24-year-old has started just four out of 14 matches, with manager Stefano Pioli favoring American players Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah over the Nigerian talent.Ā

Respected Italian journalist Fabrizio Ponciroli has criticized Pioli’s decisions, questioning the omission of Chukwueze despite his good form.
“I don’t know what Pioli sees in Musah, there’s Chukwueze in good condition and I don’t know why he never plays.
“I think Pioli has lost control of the situation. He was certainly convinced of these choices, it’s true that talking about them later is easier, but from before I already considered these choices to be wrong,” he said.Ā
The move to AC Milan, which initially sparked excitement, has become a nightmare for Chukwueze, making his first season in Italy challenging.
