LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led Lagos State Government has sealed churches, event centres, others in the Lagos Island, Ojudu, Ogba, Magodo, and Ikosi areas of the State over alleged noise pollution.
This was disclosed in a post alongside photographs posted on the X platform via the handle of the office of the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab.
Some of the affected establishments include New Jerusalem Ark of God International Church and Yplus Event Centre.

The sealing of the establishments was carried out by the officials of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), which stated that to combat noise pollution, it advocates strict adherence to the recommended sound levels in establishments, including religious centres, nightclubs, bars, and events centers.
“The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) officials conducted an enforcement operation, which resulted in the closure and sealing off of specific establishments in areas including Lagos Island, Ojudu, Ogba, Magodo, and Ikosi, all due to concerns regarding noise pollution.

“Let’s Stand United Against Noise Pollution! To combat noise pollution, LASEPA advocates strict adherence to the recommended sound levels in establishments, including religious centres, nightclubs, bars, and events centers,” the agency stated.
This development is following the agency’s earlier warnings as against noise pollution.
A statement on LASEPA’s X handle had urged churches, mosques and nightclubs to adhere to the recommended sound levels to prevent noise pollution.
“Ensure that sound levels are maintained within acceptable limits as a gesture of consideration for our neighbourhoods,” the statement read.
