LAGOS, NIGERIA (VOICE OF NAIJA) –Enugu Rangers International Football Club claimed a 2-0 victory over Plateau United Football Club in Week 32 of the Nigerian Professional Football League 2023/24.
The match, held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu started on high tempo as both teams tried to outdo each other.
Chiedozie Okorie broke the deadlock for Rangers in the 25th minute, securing the lead that they maintained until halftime.
Plateau United displayed a dominant performance in the second half, but Rangers’ Coach Fidelis Illechukwu’s tactical adjustments proved fruitful in the 90th minute when a penalty was awarded.
Godwin Obaje calmly converted the spot-kick, sealing the second goal.

In a post-match interview, Illechukwu expressed his satisfaction, remarking on the team’s hard work and his prior knowledge of Plateau United’s capabilities.
He said, “I am happy for this victory; we trained very hard for this match. Plateau is my team because I coached them last season and I know they cannot win us here in Enugu.’’
Mbuaz Mangut, the coach of Plateau United, acknowledged their intentions to secure a win or draw but acknowledged the unpredictable nature of the game.
“We came here prepared to win but unfortunately our plans did not work out, that is football,” he said.
With this victory, Enugu Rangers now lead the league table with 57 points.
