LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Cristiano Ronaldo has made an early return to Al-Nassr after being suspended from Portugal’s national team, drawing praise from Goncalo Ramos despite his recent suspension.
Ronaldo’s absence from Portugal’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Luxembourg was a result of a yellow card he received during their 1-0 victory over Slovakia.
The 38-year-old was lucky not to be sent off after a reckless challenge that inadvertently struck his former Manchester United teammate, Slovakian goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, in the face.

Nevertheless, Paris Saint-Germain striker Ramos spoke highly of his veteran international colleague, who has already resumed his club duties in Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr.
Ramos expressed to reporters, “Cris [Ronaldo] has consistently provided tremendous support. He was with the team until today [Sunday], offering assistance in any way possible. However, he has now returned to his club.”
Portugal is well on its way to securing qualification for Euro 2024, having won all five of their group stage matches and holding a five-point lead over second-placed Slovakia and third-placed Luxembourg with five games remaining.
While Portugal prepares for their match against Luxembourg on Monday, Ronaldo is gearing up for action with Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, where they are set to face Al-Raed on Saturday.
