LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) Antony has reportedly refutes allegations of aggressive behavior with another woman as ex-girlfriend calls for punishment.
The case is under investigation by Police in both Sao Paulo and Manchester, leading to Antony’s exclusion from the Brazilian national squad.
Ingrid Lana, a 33-year-old banker, accused Antony of aggressive behavior in an interview with Brazilian media outlet Record TV, claiming an incident occurred in October 2022.
Lana stated, “He tried to have sex with me, and I didn’t want to. He pushed me against the wall, and I hit my head.”
Antony responded with a social media statement describing the encounter as “intimate and consensual” and sharing mobile phone screenshots on Instagram, including WhatsApp conversations he believes will clear his name.

Meanwhile, Gabriela Cavallin, through her legal team, has reiterated her call for action by authorities.
In response, Manchester United granted Antony an absence from training and first-team duties. The club’s statement reads, “As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse and recognize the importance of safeguarding all involved. We acknowledge the impact of these allegations on survivors of abuse.”
Antony, who joined Manchester United from Ajax in 2022, also issued a statement expressing his innocence and willingness to cooperate with the police investigation:
“I have agreed with Manchester United to take a period of absence while I address the allegations made against me.
“This was a mutual decision to avoid distraction to my teammates and unnecessary controversy for the club. I want to reiterate my innocence and look forward to returning to play as soon as possible.”
