LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Paul Pogba, determined to defy his critics, is facing a challenging period in his second spell with Juventus, marked by injuries and setbacks.
Pogba’s return to Juventus has not unfolded as expected. During the previous season, the French midfielder featured in just ten matches for the Serie A side, plagued by various injuries.
After leaving Manchester United and rejoining Juventus on a free transfer last summer, Pogba also recently expressed concerns about back pain.
Nonetheless, he remains resolute in his quest to rejuvenate his career and prove his detractors wrong.
“I want to make them eat their words. … I want to show them I’m not weak. They can talk bad about me. I will never give up,” Pogba declared in an interview with Al Jazeera.

Pogba also reflected on the volatile nature of the football world at its highest echelons, where fans and pundits can swiftly change their opinions: “Football is very beautiful, but it’s cruel. People can forget you. You can do something great – the next day, you’re nobody.“
Once the world’s most expensive player following his £89.3 million ($116.4 million) transfer from Juventus to Manchester United in 2016, Pogba currently stands at a crossroads in his career.
Although he has the potential for several more successful years in football, his ability to stay injury-free is paramount, and it remains a significant challenge at the moment.
Both Juventus and Pogba are hoping that his recent fitness setback is not a serious one. The Italian side is set to return to action against Lazio on Saturday, and Pogba’s return to form and fitness would undoubtedly be a boost for his team.
