LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Michelle Alozie, a standout player of the Super Falcons, has voiced her disappointment with England’s Three Lions forward, Lauren James, for not extending a personal apology following an incident during the 2023 Women’s World Cup in which James stepped on her buttocks.
Recalling the occurrence, James received a red card in the 87th minute after she brought Alozie to the ground and stepped on her.
Although the England international issued an apology via her Twitter and Instagram accounts for her actions, Alozie stated that Lauren James has not reached out to her personally, contrary to public speculation.

“No, she didn’t make direct contact with me, but she did post an apology on Twitter and Instagram,” shared the Houston Dash star in an interview with Channels TV.
Subsequent to the incident, photos capturing the moment of the stomping have turned into recurring internet memes, which Alozie amusingly acknowledged.
“I find it quite amusing how this situation unfolded. After the game, I was understandably upset and wasn’t really focusing on my phone,” remarked Alozie, who was participating in her inaugural World Cup.
“Some of my teammates showed me a photo of the incident, suggesting that it might bring a smile to my face. Given my mood at the time, I found it a bit amusing.”
