LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) Mohamed Salah showcased his scoring prowess with a double, reaching the milestone of 200 goals in English football, as Liverpool secured a convincing 3-0 win against Brentford at Anfield.

The victory propels Liverpool to second place in the Premier League, just one point behind leaders Manchester City, as they head into the international break.

Salah’s first-half goal extended his remarkable streak at Anfield, making it 15 consecutive Premier League home appearances where he either scored or provided an assist, matching the record held by legends Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry.

The Egyptian forward then notched his 200th goal in English football with a headed effort in the second half, courtesy of Kostas Tsimikas’ precise play along the touchline.

Diogo Jota sealed the triumph with a powerful strike from the edge of the box.

Liverpool’s performance was authoritative, putting recent frustrations against Luton and Toulouse behind them.

The team’s sixth consecutive Premier League home win showcased the Anfield factor, providing a solid foundation to compete at the top of the table alongside City and Arsenal, reigniting hopes of another title challenge.

Despite Brentford’s attempts, including dangerous moments and a better Expected Goals total than Liverpool, Alisson’s crucial save from a Bryan Mbeumo one-on-one at 0-0 and Liverpool’s improved quality in the final third proved decisive.

The visitors, who had their own winning streak halted, now find themselves in 11th place on the table.
