LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie became the target of racist abuse after the contentious victory against Liverpool on Saturday.
Udogie took to Instagram to share his thoughts after Tottenham’s 2-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but sadly, the post attracted comments filled with racist remarks and monkey emojis.
Tottenham has taken a firm stance against this disgraceful behavior, vowing to take action against those responsible for the offensive messages.
In a statement issued on Monday, the club expressed their disgust with the racist messages directed at Udogie on social media.

They also pledged to collaborate with the Premier League and pursue action against any individuals they can identify, standing firmly in support of Destiny Udogie.
The 20-year-old left-back played a pivotal role in Tottenham’s remarkable victory, putting up a strong performance against Mohamed Salah and forcing two challenges from Diogo Jota in a mere 22 seconds, leading to a red card for the Portuguese attacker in the second half.
The match itself was marked by controversy, with VAR referee Darren England failing to acknowledge a legitimate goal by Luis Diaz that had been wrongly disallowed for offside, further emphasizing a breakdown in communication.
The PGMOL has since admitted the error, but Liverpool found their explanation “unacceptable.”
