LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) North Korean soccer players expressed their frustration with the referee following their 2-1 loss to Japan in the Asian Games quarter-finals, which took place in Hangzhou on October 1st.
After the final whistle, North Korea’s captain, Jang Kuk Chol, and teammate Kim Kyong Sok engaged in a heated confrontation with referee Rustam Lutfullin.

They pursued the Uzbek official across the pitch at Xiaoshan Sports Centre Stadium.
The tension had escalated earlier when Rustam Lutfullin awarded a penalty to Japan after North Korean goalkeeper Kang Juh Yok charged out and made contact with Japan’s Jun Nishikawa using an outstretched arm.
Yuta Matsumura successfully converted the penalty, securing Japan’s spot in the semi-finals.
