ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – A man whose identity is yet to be known lost his life in a tragic incident involving 16 people at the Magboro Bus Stop along the bustling Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The accident, which unfolded around 7:50 am on Sunday, resulted in seven passengers sustaining injuries.

This calamity happened when a Mercedes Benz ML350 bearing license plate AKD424HH collided with a Volkswagen commercial bus with license plate KSF934YA.

An eyewitness, Opeyemi Lateef, revealed that the tragedy occurred as the Mercedes Benz swerved to avoid a pedestrian attempting to cross the road. In the process, the driver lost control, leading to the disastrous collision with the parked commercial bus.

Another witness, who chose to remain anonymous, pointed out that indiscriminate parking of commercial vehicles at the bus stop and excessive speed were contributing factors to the accident.

The accident was confirmed by Florence Okpe, the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Sector Command, who attributed it primarily to speeding.

Okpe expressed concern over the dangerous practice of commercial vehicle parking along highways, emphasizing its significant role in accidents at the Magboro Bus Stop.
