LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) Liverpool has taken a gamble by appealing midfielder Curtis Jones’ contentious red card in their match against Tottenham, risking the ban being extended from three games to four if the appeal is deemed frivolous.

The controversial red card came when Jones went over the ball, catching Yves Bissouma high on the shin with his studs up in the 26th minute of the game.

Although opinions are divided on the decision, Liverpool has chosen to contest it.

The Reds were reduced to nine men later in the match when Diogo Jota received two yellow cards in 22 seconds, and they ultimately lost to Spurs after a late own goal by Joel Matip.

One of the most contentious moments of the game was VAR failing to overturn the decision to disallow Luis Diaz’s equalizing goal for offside, adding to Liverpool’s frustration.

The outcome of Liverpool’s appeal remains uncertain, with the hope that they might receive some sympathy considering the glaring offside decision that went against them in the match.
