Richarlison Seeks Psychological Help Amid Goal Drought At Tottenham

LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Richarlison, the forward currently playing for Tottenham, has opened up about his intention to seek “psychological help” as he aims to overcome a challenging period in his career.

The 26-year-old has faced difficulties both at Tottenham and with the Brazilian national team recently.

His struggles reached a point where he was visibly upset after being substituted during Brazil’s 5-1 victory over Bolivia, having missed a clear scoring opportunity.

The international break concluded with Richarlison still searching for a goal, as he was substituted during Brazil’s 1-0 win against Peru.

Richarlison explained that off-field matters have been affecting him, with people who were focused on his finances distancing themselves from him.

He stated, “I went through a turbulent time in the last five months off the field. Now things are right at home.

“People who only had an eye on my money walked away from me. Now things will start to flow, I’m sure I’ll get a good run at Tottenham and make things happen again.”

Regarding his emotional reaction during the Bolivia match, he clarified that it wasn’t solely due to his on-field performance but was more related to the challenges he was facing off the field.

He mentioned that he intends to return to England to seek psychological assistance from a psychologist to help him regain his form and confidence.

Richarlison has struggled to find the back of the net, scoring only four goals in 40 games for Tottenham since his £50 million ($60 million) transfer from Everton in July 2022.

His last goal for the Brazilian national team came during the 2022 World Cup. With Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich, Tottenham is in need of multiple players to contribute goals, and Richarlison aims to play a key role in this regard. If he fails to do so, his future at the club could be uncertain.

Richarlison, who has scored in the Carabao Cup this season but is yet to find the net in the Premier League, is expected to feature in Tottenham’s upcoming match against newly-promoted Sheffield United on Saturday.
