LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A Marrakesh hotel owned by Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is not offering refuge to victims affected by the devastating earthquake in Morocco.
The mountainous High Atlas region was struck by a powerful 6.8-magnitude earthquake on Friday, resulting in over 2,000 lives lost and many more injured or still missing.
Numerous individuals, including Lionel Messi, have extended their condolences to the affected region.
Initial reports suggested that Ronaldo had opened the Pestana CR7 Marrakesh hotel to those in need of shelter, but the hotel has clarified that this is not the case.

In a statement provided to Liberation, a hotel spokesperson stated, “This information is false. All our current guests have made regular reservations.”
The earthquake has particularly impacted the historic old town area of Marrakesh, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Numerous buildings and walls have collapsed, and the narrow alleyways have hindered efforts to evacuate the injured to safety.
Public squares have been transformed into makeshift emergency shelters, providing food, water, and beds to those affected.
Members of the Morocco national football team have also contributed to the rescue efforts by donating blood to assist earthquake victims.
