“Whether Messi follows suit depends on his personal desires and goals. I truly believe he has what it takes, and it will ultimately depend on his own aspirations. I dream of seeing him there.”
Tapia also emphasized Messi’s contentment with the national team, noting his positive relationship with teammates and the coaching staff.
He remarked, “Lionel is delighted with the national team and enjoys his time with fellow players and the coaching staff. I consider myself fortunate to share such an affectionate bond with him.“
Messi’s recent move to MLS side Inter Miami marked a significant shift in his professional career, and he has made a remarkable impact in U.S. soccer, recording 11 goals in just 10 appearances across various competitions.
Additionally, he has already secured his first trophy with Inter Miami by winning the inaugural Leagues Cup and has been instrumental in their journey to the US Open Cup final.
Despite his achievements with Inter Miami, Messi’s focus will soon return to international duty, as he is set to represent Argentina in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with matches against Ecuador and Bolivia scheduled for 7 and 12 September respectively.
