LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu has assured that consumers who do not enjoy 20 hours electricity are excluded from the charge of the new tariff.
He said looking at the current economic woes in the country, it is required to end the proposed increase in tariff by the eleven DisCos.

Adelabu who spoke during a one-day investigation hearing before the Senate Committee on Power on Monday, April 29th noted that there is need for the government to embark on fresh ideas to rescue the sector and guaranteed that the current situation would be ephemeral.
The hearing was part of Nigerians anger on the new tariff by Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC)
Adelabu also informed the committee that the reverse on recent tariff means the federal government would pay N3.2trn this year to subsidise electricity.
The purpose of introducing new policy is to reform the sector for the betterment of Nigerians.
