LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) Lionel Messi has once again joined his World Cup-winning teammates from Argentina following a dynamic start to his MLS journey with Inter Miami.
Upon arriving in Argentina during the international break, the captain of Inter Miami shared a photo on Instagram.
In the picture, he is seen holding a suitcase with the caption ‘Together Again,’ clearly displaying his excitement at reuniting with the players he led to victory in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, including Emiliano MartÃnez, Alexis Mac Allister, and Lisandro Martinez.
Argentina’s quest to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico begins with a match against Ecuador this Thursday.

Despite Messi previously expressing his intention to retire before the tournament, his unwavering commitment to helping his nation reach it is evident in his decision to embark on international duty during the MLS season.
However, this also means that U.S. fans can anticipate Messi’s absence from multiple Inter Miami games.
Inter Miami is likely to have to navigate two matches without their star player: a home fixture against Sporting Kansas City on September 9 and an away encounter with Atlanta United the following weekend.
Head coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino will need to rely on players who are not away on international duty to step up in Messi’s absence.
