LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Anthony Joshua’s rematch with British boxer Dillian Whyte edges closer after the latter agreed to take on Joshua on 12 August.
Joshua’s demand for a one-way rematch provision initially slowed down negotiations, but things are now clear after the clause was dropped.
According to Sky Sports, an official announcement is anticipated to be made in the following weeks. The deal was struck on Sunday, 2 July.
If the match goes on, it will continue a rivalry between two of the best heavyweights that dates back more than ten years.

Three years before AJ won the Olympic gold in London, they first competed as amateurs in 2009, with Whyte winning by unanimous decision.
In 2015, the two-time heavyweight champion exacted retribution by giving him his first professional defeat and winning the British heavyweight championship via knockout in Round 7.
Following Whyte’s fight, Joshua is anticipated to take on Deontay Wilder in Saudi Arabia at the year’s conclusion.
Recently, Hearn stated that the Wilder deal is almost complete and that talks would be held in London the following week to finalize the paperwork.
