LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Jose Mourinho has dismissed rumors that Paris Saint-Germain have contacted him about taking over as the team’s head coach from Christophe Galtier.
Galtier’s future at PSG is in doubt after his team’s humiliating Champions League round of 16 loss to Bayern Munich, which prolonged the club’s aggravating wait for a first-ever European championship.
Although PSG is on track to retain their Ligue 1 championship, Galtier’s position is not expected to be preserved.
The French champions are reportedly in contact with Mourinho about taking over this summer as they look for a manager who will be better able to oversee a team full of star players at Parc des Princes.
The Roma manager claims not to have heard anything, though “If they called, they didn’t find me, I’ve never spoken to them,” Mourinho told Sky Italia.
As Roma gears up for the first leg of their Europa League semi-final match against Bayer Leverkusen, Mourinho has stated that he intends to complete the final year of his contract there.
In addition, PSG has reportedly expressed interest in Zinedine Zidane and Julian Nagelsmann, the former managers of Bayern Munich and France, as the club gears up for a summer of significant changes that might see the exits of Lionel Messi and Neymar.
The return leg of the Europa League match between Roma and Leverkusen is scheduled for 18 May at Bay Arena. Roma will host Leverkusen at Stadio Olimpico on Thursday night.
On Saturday against Ajaccio, PSG will return to Ligue 1 play.
