Olugbenga Owolabi is a hotelier who recently returned to Ogbomoso while Rachael Opadele is a student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) but was working at the hotel due to the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike. Imam, an associate professor from Usman Dan Fodio University Sokoto and Shu’aibu were released alongside Mustapha Imam, Akibu Lawal, Abubakar Rufai and Sidi Sharif. The five hostages were among the 62 abducted on 28 March, 2022, aboard an Abuja-Kaduna train.
