Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen is highly touted to be named the next African Player of the Year during the CAF Awards 2023 event holding on Monday, 11 December, 2023.
The Napoli of Italy centre forward is one of the favourites to win the award scheduled to take place at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco.
Having led his club to their first League title with 26 goals in 32 league appearances, the former Lille of France hitman also scored five goals in six appearances for the Naples club in the UEFA Champions League.
On the international scene, he scored 10 goals in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series.

If 24-year-old wins it, he will be the first Nigerian since Kanu Nwankwo in 1999, to claim the prestigious African award for the best player.
In the female category, Asisat Oshoala is seeking to win the award for a record-extending sixth time.
Currently, the Barcelona Femeni’s star is the only player to have won the accolade five times after picking her fifth title in Rabat, Morocco, in 2022.
