LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli has been slapped with a seven-month suspension from football after he was found guilty of betting on illegal platforms.
The Italian international is set to miss the remainder of the season as a result of this punishment, which was imposed by the Turin prosecutor’s office.
Although the initial suspension was for 12 months, Fagioli’s lawyers negotiated it down to seven months, with five months being served through alternative means.
He has also been fined €12,500 and must attend therapy sessions.

Fagioli’s case represents a significant reduction in the usual penalty for a violation of Article 24 of the Sporting Justice Code, which typically results in a three-year suspension.
The leniency in this case was influenced by the player’s full cooperation with the legal authorities and his active commitment to addressing his gambling addiction.
This ban comes as a substantial setback for Juventus, as the Serie A powerhouse is already dealing with the potential loss of another midfielder, Paul Pogba, who faces a lengthy suspension for testing positive for banned substances.
The absence of both Fagioli and Pogba will undoubtedly test the depth of the team’s midfield as they strive to maintain their competitive edge.
