LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Paul Scholes expressed his disappointment with Manchester United’s defensive performance following their 3-2 defeat to Galatasaray in the Champions League.
Despite acknowledging that the team didn’t play badly, he emphasized the defensive issues they faced.
Scholes particularly scrutinized the form of Raphael Varane, expressing concern about the World Cup-winning defender.
He pointed out that Varane seemed to have sluggish legs and struggled to maintain his fitness.

Throughout his career at Old Trafford, Varane has been plagued by niggling injuries, which has raised worries about his overall performance.
Former United defender Rio Ferdinand also criticized the team, highlighting their inability to maintain organization and spatial awareness.
He pointed out that in the Champions League, lapses in these areas lead to severe consequences, as seen in the match against Galatasaray.
United’s loss to Galatasaray was their sixth defeat in ten matches across all competitions, marking their worst start to a season since 1986, just before Sir Alex Ferguson took charge.
They will seek to turn their season around when they face Brentford in their upcoming match on Saturday.
