LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Erik ten Hag has claimed that he is pleased with Harry Maguire while saying that he must leave Manchester United if he lacks the self-assurance to demonstrate his value.
The United manager has pushed Maguire to compete for a starting berth in his squad, but he has also acknowledged that if the center-back is not up to it, he should leave the team this summer.
West Ham made a £30 million ($38 million) bid to the Red Devils for the defender, which they accepted.
Speaking in a press conference, Ten Hag said: “He has the ability to be a top-class center-back. He is the best for England, so why shouldn’t he be the best for us? But he has to prove it.
“When he is not confident enough to fight then he has to go, then he has to make a decision. But I’m happy with him.”

The United captaincy was taken away from Maguire this summer, and he is currently Ten Hag’s fifth-choice central defender, with left-back Luke Shaw ahead of him in the lineup.
Ten Hag reportedly wants to replace Maguire first before allowing him to depart.
The most expensive defender in the world may decide to remain at Old Trafford this summer, and he is anticipated to be part of the team for Monday’s Premier League start against Wolves.
