LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Barcelona have announced the re-signing of Oriol Romeu from Girona in a deal of €8 million (£7 million).
Romeu has signed a three-year contract with Barcelona, and Barca have officially announced their acquisition of the midfielder for a rumoured €8 million cost.
In 2011, Romeu left the Catalan club for Chelsea, although he struggled there. Romeu later played for Southampton and Girona before coming back to Camp Nou.
This summer, when the storied midfielder left on a free transfer, Barcelona has been looking to replace Sergio Busquets.

Romeu is a cost-effective alternative for the team, yet it is unclear if he will be given the playing time needed to take the defensive midfielder’s role.
In addition to Ilkay Gundogan, Vitor Roque, and Inigo Martinez, Xavi’s team also added them to their roster this summer.
Romeu hopes to play this weekend when Barcelona plays Juventus in a preseason friendly.
