LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed his commitment to continue playing for Portugal at the international level until the 2024 European Championship.
The legendary player, who is currently 38 years old, has already made 200 appearances for his nation.
He has a record-breaking total of 123 goals for his country, but after spending a lot of time on the bench at the 2022 World Cup, some have questioned his continued participation at that level.
However, Ronaldo has played a significant role for Portugal since Roberto Martinez took over as manager, and he has pledged to continue to compete until another important event has passed.
Ronaldo, who helped his nation to continental glory in 2016, told reporters – including those from Record – when asked about his international future: “I always have something to prove when we have nothing to prove, it is a sign that we are dead for life.
“Every year, I always have something to prove. Proving that I can set an example of longevity, at 38-and-a-half years old, I think I’ll still do very interesting things.

“What? Goals, assists, good preparation in the Selection, having a good qualifying phase, a good European Championship and continue to do what I’ve done in my 21-year career.
“I’ll continue to enjoy it the same way. I still feel useful and good. It’s continuing to enjoy football, which is what I like most.”
In terms of appearances for Portugal, Ronaldo made his international debut in 2003 and has since gone on to make a total of two hundred appearances.
Currently, he is representing Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia for club play, and he will be hoping that his success there keeps him in the running for more calls to the national team.
Portugal has dominated Group J with a 12-point haul, topping the group after four Euro 2024 qualifiers.
It is expected that Portugal, together with their famous No. 7, will compete in the finals in Germany next summer.
