LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Victor Osimhen, a Nigerian striker, has reportedly agreed to a contract extension with Naples, according to Aurelio De Laurentiis, president of Napoli, Punch Sports Extra reports.
The striker, who won the league’s top scorer award, contributed 26 goals and four assists to help Napoli win their first Serie A championship in more than three decades.
The Naples-based team wants to keep the Nigerian international on board for as long as possible since they want to build on that success in 2023–24.
Osimhen’s contract still has a little more than two years left, there are more and more people that want to sign the 24-year-old.
According to reports, Osimhen is being courted by both Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
Although Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain is still being connected to Real Madrid, Los Blancos have just signed Joselu and may yet make an approach for the player.
The Ligue 1 winners would also be looking for a new frontman if PSG is successful in getting their targeted price for Mbappe, with Osimhen being an obvious option.

After Luciano Spalletti decided to take a break, Rudi Garcia was formally introduced as Napoli’s new manager on Monday. During the media meeting, the subject of Osimhen’s future came up.
De Laurentiis told reporters: “We spoke with Osimhen before the Scudetto celebration, so we already have a fundamental understanding on a two-year extension of his contract.
“I’ve been saying for a while that Osimhen must remain. In that case, we would naturally consider it if I received an offer that I would be unable to reject for the benefit of Napoli.”
Osimhen, who has spent three years at Napoli, has just lately admitted that playing in the Premier League is his “dream.”
As a result of the striker’s estimated cost of around €80 million in 2020, Napoli will want to recover at least £100 million for their most valuable asset.
