LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-Kylian Mbappe was chosen as the Ligue 1 player of the season for the fourth time in a row on Sunday after assisting Paris Saint-Germain in capturing a record 11th French championship.
The France international is on track to finish as the division’s leading scorer for a fifth consecutive season with his 28 goals this campaign.
“It’s a pleasure to add my name to the annals of the league; I always wanted to win.
“But even with my high expectations, I didn’t anticipate winning so swiftly,” Mbappe said after accepting his trophy.
He has scored 40 goals so far this season, turned down a three-year deal with Real Madrid at the end of the last campaign.
The 24-year-old’s contract will expire next year unless he exercises an option to extend it until 2025, according to reports.
