Man United: Erik Ten Hag Insists Club Must Invest To Stay In Premier League Top Four

LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-Erik ten Hag contends that Manchester United must make investments if they hope to stay in the Premier League’s top four.

The first time Ten Hag was asked to do so, he returned United to the Champions League.

In addition to winning the Carabao Cup, this move also sets up a matchup with Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

Ten Hag stated following the conclusion of the Premier League season: “The club realizes that if you want to play top four, if you want to fight for trophies in this tough league, you have to invest, otherwise you won’t grow because other clubs will.

“We witnessed it in the winter. Every club in the area made an investment. We didn’t, yet we still succeeded. I am therefore quite pleased and proud of my staff.

Only five Premier League teams did not make any purchases in January, and United was the only club from that group to finish the season in the European places.

Ten Hag’s first transfer window saw more than £225 million spent on six new players, including Antony, who was acquired from the manager’s former team Ajax for £86 million.

Ten Hag’s remarks come at a time when it’s unclear who will own United moving forward because the Glazer family, who have owned the team since 2005, are considering offers.

The two parties eager to complete an acquisition, which might cost more than £5 billion, are Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the founder of Ineos, and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, a tycoon from Qatar.

Ten Hag stated earlier this week that if the ownership situation did not alter, United would be able to pursue their top transfer targets this summer.

“I believe so,” Ten Hag replied. We discussed what could be done with the squad and with transfers when I arrived here [at the end of] the last campaign.

“The club shown they can last year. Therefore, I don’t believe anything has changed, and certainly, we may continue as before during the summer.
