ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- In a significant development aimed at resolving the political impasse in Rivers State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his team have been issued a set of directives to withdraw all matters instituted in the courts, to address the ongoing crisis.
The directive was signed by Aaron Chukiorameka, the Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman; Martin Chike, the Rivers State House of Assembly Speaker, Nyesom Wike, Minister FCT, among others.
The first major directive entails the immediate withdrawal of all court cases initiated against the Governor by the Rivers State House of Assembly, which are in connection with the political situation in the State, signaling a commitment to finding a peaceful resolution.
Notably, the leadership of the House, under Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, is to be officially recognized, along with the 27 members who resigned from the PDP, as part of the broader reconciliation efforts.

Another crucial directive focuses on the reinstatement of remunerations and benefits for all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly and their staff.
This is even as the Governor is instructed not to interfere with the full funding of the legislative body, which is now granted the autonomy to choose its venue for conducting legislative business without executive interference.
Governor Fubara is also mandated to re-present the state budget to a properly constituted Rivers State House of Assembly, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the executive and legislative branches for effective governance.
Moreover, the press release highlights the need for resubmitting the names of all commissioners who resigned due to the political crisis for approval by the House of Assembly, fostering a comprehensive approach to rebuilding the state’s leadership structure.
The directive rejects the formation of a caretaker committee for local governments in Rivers State, deeming the dissolution of the Local Government administration null and void.
The resolution seeks to restore stability and normalcy to the governance structures of Rivers State, setting the stage for a cooperative and unified political landscape.
