LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli is at risk of receiving a ban lasting up to three years due to an investigation into his alleged betting activity on unauthorized online gambling platforms.
The Turin Prosecutor’s Office is actively examining the 22-year-old’s involvement in this matter, with potentially serious consequences if he’s found guilty.
Fagioli’s lawyer has stated that the player self-reported his actions to the sports justice system and remains composed in light of the situation.
Nevertheless, should the allegations prove true, he could be sidelined from the game for an extended period.
His lawyer stated, “Nicolo is calm and is fully concentrated on Juventus and the championship.
“In our role as Nicolo Fagioli’s legal representatives, we can confirm that our client is handling the matter responsibly, with a commitment to utmost transparency and cooperation with the regular and sports judicial authorities.

“This is evident from the fact that he promptly took action and reported to the Federal Prosecutor’s Office.”
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has already interviewed Fagioli regarding this case, and prosecutors initiated the investigation in late August, with a potential resolution expected by November.
This issue surfaced during an inquiry into gambling websites operating without proper licenses, where Fagioli’s name was discovered.
While such offences usually lead to fines, as a professional athlete and member of a federation, Fagioli might face more severe consequences.
This development adds to Juventus’s concerns, as they are already dealing with the absence of midfielder Paul Pogba, who is facing a lengthy suspension after testing positive for a banned substance.
Despite this off-field turmoil, Fagioli has been a regular part of Allegri’s squad this season, appearing in six Serie A matches and earning a cap for the Italian national team.
