LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Real Madrid is reportedly contemplating on rehiring Zinedine Zidane a third time in an effort to have him succeed Carlo Ancelotti.
Prior to the 2024 Copa America, Ancelotti agreed to manage Brazil and will start his new position the following year.
Real are therefore looking for a replacement, and according to the Daily Mail, Zidane is one of four former players being considered for the position.
Zidane twice served as Real’s manager, from 2016 to 2018 and from 2019 to 2021. He has won La Liga twice and the Champions League three times.

According to the article, Zidane’s desire to become France manager may be the only obstacle to his appointment, hence Real are reportedly looking at other candidates.
Alvaro Arbeloa and Raul, two youth coaches, and Xabi Alonso, the manager of Bayer Leverkusen, are also rumored to have been shortlisted by the club.
Raul presently oversees Real Madrid Castilla, while Arbeola coaches the young team.
Zidane is rumored to be eager to return to coaching, but Real may be his only choice. He is also the hero of Kylian Mbappe, whose transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to the Bernabeu has been hotly rumored.
