LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Pep Guardiola won his third LMA Manager of the Year award, and Emma Hayes took home the WSL honor following Chelsea’s fourth straight championship victory.
The League Managers Association voted Guardiola manager of the year after he won his fifth Premier League championship in six years, beating Mikel Arteta of Arsenal, Roberto de Zerbi of Brighton, Eddie Howe of Newcastle, Vincent Kompany of Burnley, and Steven Schumacher of Plymouth.
For the third time during his tenure at Manchester City, Guardiola has won the Sir Alex Ferguson Trophy, which is decided by a vote of the managers in each level.
The Spanish manager also won the Premier League Manager of the Year award when his squad overtook Arsenal in the fight for the championship by performing at their highest level toward the end of the campaign.
In the meantime, Chelsea coach Hayes won the Women’s Super League award after the Blues won their third consecutive FA Cup and fourth straight WSL championship.

Manchester United finished in second place in both competitions after falling short in the WSL by two points and then experiencing heartbreak in the cup final at a sold-out Wembley.
Hayes has now garnered six LMA victories overall and four consecutively.
Guardiola was thrilled to have won the three LMA Manager of the Year awards, joining Ferguson and David Moyes as the only other managers to do so:
“To get his prize is a great honor. We play in the top league in the world, and I guarantee that we will continue to play there the following year.”
Ferguson, who has received five LMA Manager of the Year honors during his illustrious 26-year tenure with Manchester United, is currently only behind Guardiola.
