ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Voters in Sokoto have expressed anger over the late arrival of electoral materials that characterized the supplementary national assembly elections in the State.
The member representing Dange/Shuni, Tureta, Bodinga federal constituency, Dr. Balarabe Kakale, who spoke with journalists at the JSS polling unit 017 Shuni Area of the State, said he was disappointed at the action of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).
He noted that upon the assurance the electoral body gave to Nigerians, the umpire has not shown commitment to conduct a free, fair and credible rerun.
Kakale said the election should have commenced by 8:am, but election materials were delayed at polling units.
“You know billions of naira were voted for INEC for this election but look at what is happening, even their ad-hoc staff were not properly trained,” he stated.
He said that they have registered their protest to INEC, adding that the trend is discouraging.
He implored the electoral body to allow the will and wishes of the electorates to prevail.
