ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – A Kano High Court has upheld Abdullahi Ganduje’s position as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), despite several purported suspensions issued against him by ward party leaders.
The court presided over by Justice Usman Mallam Na’Abba, reversed its earlier decision affirming Ganduje’s suspension on Monday, reaffirming his status as the APC National Chairman.
Initially, a faction of the APC in Ganduje Ward, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, Kano State, had announced Ganduje’s suspension, citing alleged corruption and other misconduct.
The Legal Adviser of the APC faction, Malam Haladu Gwanjo, announced the suspension.
Gwanjo, who cited alleged corruption and other vices as reasons for the suspension, said the decision was taken by nine executive members of the party in Ganduje’s ward.

Haladu Gwanjo and Laminu Sani Barguma, who also claimed to be the Chairman and Secretary respectively of Ganduje ward, obtained an order affirming the suspension.
However, Justice Na’Abba vacated the suspension order after considering a Motion Ex-Parte and other supporting documents, granting an interim injunction to maintain the status quo ante regarding Ganduje’s suspension pending further hearing.
“An order of interim injunction is hereby granted staying the execution of the order of interim injunction contained in the ruling of this court delivered on the 17h April, 2024 directing parties to maintain status quo ante as at the 15th day of April, 2024 in relation to the suspension of the 4th respondent/applicant from the 1st respondent by the Ganduje Ward Executive Committee pending the hearing and determination of the 4th respondent/applicant Motion on Notice,” the judge said.
The case has been adjourned to April 30 for further proceedings.
