ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has finally moved to the Defence House in Maitama District of Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital.
He will perform other function at the Defence House until he is sworn-in as President on 29 May, 2023, following his victory in the just concluded presidential poll.
Military analyst, Deji Adesogan, who witnessed the traffic, tweeted on Sunday afternoon, that there was serious gridlock during the movement.
He tweeted via his Twitter handle @DejiAdesogan: “Heavy traffic around DEFENCE HOUSE Abuja the official residence of President-Elect Bola Tinubu as he finally moved in till transition date of 29 May 2023 when BAT will now move in to the Presidential Villa. #Nigeria”.
The President elect will be based there at the Guest House until 29 May, 2023, when he will be sworn in as President.
Meanwhile, a tweet by APC presidential campaign council on Thursday had informed that: “The The President-elect will be moving into Defence House, in Maitama, FCT, where he will spend the next couple of months, and from where he will move into the Presidential Villa.”
This came just hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented Tinubu with the certificate of return in Abuja.
Tinubu received the certificate of return after defeating the Peoples Democratic Partyās (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the Labour Partyās Peter Obi, and others.
As President-elect, Tinubu will receive briefings from the Defence House and attend key meetings.
Tinubu who polled 8,794,726, led the Peoples Democratic Partyās Atiku Abubakar, who scored 6,984,520 votes, and Labour Partyās Peter Obi who polled 6,101,533.
Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian Peoples Party garnered 1,496,687 votes to emerge fourth.
