ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Senator representing Kano South, Sulaiman Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, has faulted the 2024 budget, alleging padding.
Sumaila pointed out the errors during an interview with an online television station in Kano.
Nation quoted him as saying that the appropriation bill recently assented to by President Bola Tinubu had a lot of mistakes, the sort he had never seen in a budget before.
He said: “This year’s budget is the most mistake-ridden budget I have ever seen.
“It is clear that the government is not taking the necessary steps to address our economic challenges.”

On the insecurity in the country, Senator Sumaila, a former Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, also urged the President Tinubu led government to protect the lives and property of Nigerian citizens.
The senator, who is also a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) expressed his deep frustration and disappointment in the way the All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration is handling the country’s security challenges.
He further questioned the security agencies’ ability to effectively address the security issues plaguing the country, challenging them to do more.
