The International governing body for the sport of athletics, formerly known as IAAF, has ratified the world record set by Tobi Amusan in the women’s 100m hurdles semi-final at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, the United States, in July. IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- An Ikeja Special Offences Court has sentenced a 31-year-old teacher, Idowu Daniel, to seven years imprisonment, for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old student within the school premises. The convict was charged with defilement. Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo held that the prosecution failed to establish the charge of defilement against the convict, as the victim failed to show up in court to testify. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting Mr Lamido alongside two of his sons – Aminu Sule Lamido and Mustapha Sule Lamido – and others on money laundering charges involving N712,008,035. Another of the co-defendants is the Lamidos’ business associate, Aminu Wada Abubakar. IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A Federal High Court in Abuja, has dismissed a suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against Bola Tinubu and Peter Obi, the All Progressives Congress and Labour Party’s presidential candidates, respectively. The PDP had asked the court to compel INEC to prevent Messrs Tinubu and Obi from replacing their running mates with Kashim Shettima and Datti Baba-Ahmed, respectively.
