ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Concerned PDP League (CPDPL), a pressure group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), advises Alhaji Atiku Abubakar not to contest the 2027 presidential election, emphasizing the importance of regional balance and stability in the political system.
In a communiqué released in Abuja, CPDPL’s National Secretary, Alhaji Tasiu Muhammed, and acting National Director of Publicity and Strategic Communication, Gbenga Adedamola, urged Atiku to consider the South’s eight-year term before power returns to the North in 2031.

The group also cautioned Governor Bala Mohammed, the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, against harboring presidential ambitions until 2031, aiming to prevent a recurrence of the party’s challenges in 2015 and 2023.
“Our advice is also to ensure stability in the political system of the country,” the group emphasized, urging the party to learn from the factors that contributed to its failure in the 2023 general election as it prepares for 2027.
“As we all know, the year 2023 was a very challenging year for our great party, with us losing the presidential election due to failure to abide by our party’s constitution of 2017, as amended, and failure of leadership,” CPDPL stated.
