ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has stressed on the party’s commitment to progress as he revealed innovations at the national secretariat, including the construction of a church on the premises.
Addressing concerns about religion influencing politics, especially in light of the 2023 presidential election, Ganduje stressed the aim of enhancing the party and the nation’s development.
During a visit to the remodeled national secretariat, Ganduje highlighted the addition of a new church, the creation of shops to curb street hawking, and the installation of concrete drainage.
Expressing concern about the media center’s outdated equipment, he urged a digital transformation, emphasizing the importance of modernizing communication platforms in politics.
Ganduje said: “The innovations are for the progress of the party and the nation. Before, there was no church, nobody went to church on the premises; but now, we have a new church. We have shops to avoid street hawking around the building. And we have concrete drainage.

“The media centre in terms of its outlook and equipment, I have not seen any symbol of modern gadgets. We are not in an analogue period.
“But, I think what I have seen here is analogue. But, our media people are not analogue. So, let us see the media centre as a digital platform.”
Ganduje pledged to work tirelessly to secure more governorship and legislative seats for the ruling APC at both state and national levels.
With upcoming reruns and by-elections in February and governorship elections in Edo and Ondo later in the year, he outlined the party’s blueprint to increase representation across the country.
Highlighting a departure from traditional political party engagement, Ganduje emphasized that APC would remain active throughout the year, not just during elections.
He emphasized the importance of political parties providing ongoing progress reports to the public and contributing recommendations on manifestos for a more comprehensive assessment of governance.
Meanwhile, the sale of APC nomination and expression of interest forms for the Edo governorship seat is in progress.
Former Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clem Agba, emerged as the first Edo APC aspirant to pick up the forms at the national secretariat, with the sale scheduled to end on 29 January.
