ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have addressed the recent suspension of social investment program handlers, including the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu.

They urged Nigerians to be patient saying that President Bola Tinubu would only take further actions based on the outcome of ongoing investigations, particularly the 585 million naira fraud.

The APC Professionals Forum praised the President’s swift response to malfeasance allegations against the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu.

The Forum sees this as a strong signal that President Tinubu is committed to his Renewed Hope Agenda.

During the meeting in Abuja, the APC Governors expressed firm support for the Tinubu administration.

While the agenda was not disclosed, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State mentioned that the gathering was aimed to review national developments and strategize on supporting the government and party policies.

Uzodinma emphasized the Governors’ unity in supporting President Tinubu and their commitment to conveying his policies to the grassroots.

He said: “This is the first meeting since the beginning of this year, and the meeting allowed us to review the goings on in the country and also agreed on how best to continue to support our government and our party to maximise the benefits of the current policies of the administration.

“The Progressives Governors are united in supporting the APC-led administration of our president, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We will continue to support him. We will take his policies to the grassroots and subnational leaders of our great party and ensure that our people come on the same page with the thinking of the government.”

Regarding Dr Edu’s suspension, the Governors stated: “It’s just an allegation, and in the wisdom of the president, it is being investigated. After the investigation is completed and the report is made available, the government will make a final decision.”

They also expressed readiness for upcoming elections, with Uzodinma stating, “Our party is prepared to go into any election at any time.”

“The functions of a government include encouraging good things and good appointees and discouraging bad things and bad appointees.

“But as it has to do with what you just said, it’s just an allegation, and in the wisdom of the president, it is being investigated.

“After the investigation is completed and the report is made available, the government will make a final decision. So don’t be in a hurry, and don’t allow any sickness like ‘anxietyserosis.’”

Some attendees included Yahaya Bello, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya, Nasir Idris, Biodun Oyebanji, Uba Sani, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Umar Namadi, Mai Mala Buni, Francis Nwifuru, Ahmad Aliyu, Bassey Otu, Dapo Abiodun, and AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq.

In a related development, the APC Professionals Forum commended President Tinubu for suspending appointees found questionable in the discharge of their duties, emphasizing the importance of integrity in the Renewed Hope agenda.

They also urged continuous recruitment of progressive-minded individuals into vacant positions.
