ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Twenty-six lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly believed to be loyal to Nyesom Wike, the FCT minister, have defected to All Progressives Congress (APC).

But due to conflict with other members of the 32-member House, it led to a split of the legislature into two, whereby the 26 members defected to the APC.
The other members of the Assembly who did not join APC are said to be supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Governor Fubara is said to be locked in a political battle with his predecessor and erstwhile godfather, Wike.
