ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, during plenary on Thursday, supervised the oath of office administered to the new senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The Clerk of the Senate, Mr. Chinedu Akubueze, administered the oath to her at about 11:41 am.
Thereafter, she proceeded to have a handshake with the Senate President, who handed over to her a copy of the Senate Standing Rules.
After, she was led to her seat by the sergeant at arms after an exchange of pleasantries with her colleagues.
The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division had on Monday, affirmed that Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was the duly elected candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial Election on 26 February, 2023.
The appellate court dismissed the appeal filed by Senator Abubakar Ohere for lacking merit.
Earlier in September, the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lokoja nullified the victory of Ohere of the All Progressives Congress, (APC).
Furthermore, the court declared that Akpoti-Uduaghan was the actual winner of the February senatorial poll.
However, Ohere had headed to the appellate court to seek redress, but the court further upheld Akpoti-Uduaghan as the winner of the poll.
