LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) In the thrilling match at the Emirates, the 22-year-old put up an impressive performance, helping Arsenal secure a crucial 1-0 win over Manchester City and join Tottenham Hotspur at the top of the Premier League table.
Following the match, it was announced that Nice center-back Jean-Clair Todibo would replace Saliba in Didier Deschamps’ squad for the upcoming European qualifier against the Netherlands and a friendly against Scotland, as confirmed by the French Football Federation.
Saliba’s injury has been described as chronic, which has led to his absence from the national team during this international break.

A statement released by the French Football Federation explained the situation: “William Saliba is unable to join the French national team due to pain in his right big toe. He will remain with his club for treatment of this chronic injury.”
After consulting with Dr. Franck Le Gall, the team doctor, Didier Deschamps made the decision to replace Saliba with Jean-Clair Todibo.
Todibo is expected to join the team at Clairefontaine on Monday, along with the other selected players.
Saliba played a pivotal role in Arsenal’s recent victory over Manchester City, helping to keep Erling Haaland in check.
He is now set to miss international duty, much like his Arsenal teammate Bukayo Saka, who is sidelined for England’s matches against Australia and Italy due to an injury sustained during a Champions League match against Lens.
The next time we can expect to see Saliba in action is not until October 21st when Arsenal faces their London rivals, Chelsea, as they aim to maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League standings.
