ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has weighed in on the revelation of President Bola Tinubu’s academic records by Chicago State University (CSU).
Keyamo called on Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, to issue an apology to Tinubu and the Nigerian public for the embarrassment caused.
In a statement posted on X, Keyamo characterized Atiku’s trip to Chicago as futile, asserting that CSU’s responses have rendered it a fruitless and self-humiliating endeavour.
Keyamo emphasized that President Tinubu and Nigerians deserve an unequivocal apology from Atiku.

According to Keyamo: “From the responses by Chicago State University, ATIKU’s journey to Chicago and back has been a journey to nowhere, a fruitless exercise and an odyssey in self-humiliation. President Tinubu and Nigerians deserve an unreserved apology from him.”
The academic records of Tinubu were made public by CSU following a Chicago court’s directive. The university confirmed the authenticity of three diplomas that matched the certificates Tinubu had presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the 2023 presidential election.
Atiku had pursued a legal battle to investigate Tinubu’s academic qualifications in connection with the 25 February presidential poll. Tinubu had submitted CSU certificates to INEC as proof of eligibility for the election.
A United States court presided over by Justice Nancy Maldonado, issued a judgment on Saturday dismissing Tinubu’s objections to Atiku’s request and explicitly ordered CSU to provide Atiku with Tinubu’s academic records for verification.
