LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) Jorge Vilda is set to be investigated as part of the criminal case involving former Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales.
The case revolves around an incident during the World Cup 2023 medal ceremony where Rubiales kissed Jenni Hermoso on the lips.
Vilda, along with two other federation officials, has been summoned to appear in court on October 10 as investigated parties.
Three national team players, including Alexia Putellas, Irene Paredes, and Misa Rodríguez, have already provided witness statements.

Rubiales faces allegations of sexual assault and coercion for the kiss, which, under a recent sexual consent law, could result in a fine or a prison sentence of one to four years if he is found guilty.
The new law does away with the distinction between “sexual harassment” and “sexual assault,” penalizing any unconsented sexual act.
Vilda, who was replaced as coach shortly after the World Cup, is accused of trying to persuade Hermoso to support Rubiales during the controversy surrounding the incident.
Rubiales had resigned from his position as RFEF president and had previously been suspended by FIFA.
