LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) Jorginho expressed gratitude to Arsenal supporters for their unwavering support following his “painful mistake” in the recent North London derby.
In a thrilling 2-2 draw at Emirates Stadium, Arsenal twice took the lead against arch-rivals Tottenham, with Bukayo Saka contributing to an own goal by Cristian Romero and converting a penalty.
Spurs’ Son Heung-min scored a brace, and the second goal was handed to him by Jorginho.
The Italian midfielder, mere seconds after Saka’s penalty, hesitated on the ball in midfield, allowing James Maddison to dispossess him and set up Son for the equalizer.
Jorginho took to Instagram to acknowledge that he may have cost Arsenal two crucial points but expressed his appreciation for the support he received:

“A painful mistake today, but seeing how everyone reacted after my mistake to support and lift me up, my team-mates, coaches, staff, and you Arsenal fans.

Arsenal remains undefeated in the Premier League this season, with 14 points from six games.
They will return to action on Wednesday when they face Brentford in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
