LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) Arsenal is taking a cautious approach with Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard, with both players expected to miss the upcoming Carabao Cup third-round match against Brentford due to injuries.

Despite their ambitions for success across multiple competitions this season, Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, is prioritizing the well-being of key players dealing with injuries.

Rice, Arsenal’s record signing, was forced to leave the pitch at halftime during the recent North London derby against Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Belgian winger Trossard was sidelined for the same match due to a “slight muscle issue” he reported during training.

According to reports from Standard Sport, which also note the absence of other key Gunners like Gabriel Martinelli, Thomas Partey, and Jurrien Timber, Arteta intends to rest Rice and Trossard for the Brentford clash, regardless of their fitness status.

In addition, Bukayo Saka is expected to be given a break after showing signs of discomfort when substituted late in the thrilling 2-2 draw against Tottenham.

Arsenal is keen to prevent any potential long-term injuries, particularly with Timber already sidelined for the season following knee surgery.

The club’s summer investments aimed to bolster squad depth, providing Arteta with the flexibility to rotate players when necessary.
