After the unexpected loss, Dutch manager Erik ten Hag made an unusual statement when asked about the disparity in spending power between the two clubs.
Ten Hag suggested that Brighton’s expenditures were on par with other top Premier League teams, including Manchester United.

Addressing the issue of Brighton’s spending, Ten Hag stated: “I believe all teams are making significant investments.
“When Manchester United enters the equation, it tends to raise prices, and that’s the reality.”
According to BBC, the collective value of the starting lineup fielded by Roberto De Zerbi against the Red Devils was £16.2 million (€18.8/$20.5 million).
In contrast, Manchester United invested a total of £170 million in the summer transfer window to acquire players like Andre Onana, Mason Mount, and Rasmus Hojlund.
Next on the agenda for the Red Devils is a Champions League clash against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
